Obituary of Gerard "Jerry" Feenan

Gerard Andrew Feenan (Jerry), 64, of Woodland Park, NJ and Seaside Park, NJ went to the Lord Friday, August 28th surrounded by his loving family. Gerard was born April 27, 1951 in Paterson, NJ. He was a graduate of Passaic Valley High School, Montclair State University, and Rutgers University MBA Graduate Program. Gerard was employed as the Business Manager for North Jersey Training School, Totowa, NJ for many years and later as the Business Manager/Chief Financial Officer for the Veterans Hospital, Paramus, NJ, retiring in 2009. He is predeceased by his father John H. Feenan. Jerry is survived by his loving mother Mary Healey Feenan, his seven siblings; John J. Feenan, Greg Feenan, Peter Feenan, Mary Nesnay and her husband Robert, Madonna Kochka, Frank Feenan and his wife Valerie, Maura Bilger and her husband David, his eleven nieces and nephews; Michael Kochka and his wife Lauren, Mary Nesnay, Timothy Kochka, Andrew Nesnay, John Kochka and his wife Eireann, Daniel Kochka, Kathleen Feenan, John Feenan, Ryan Bilger, Andrew Feenan, Bridget Bilger, his grandnieces Riley Kochka and Emily Kochka, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Those who knew Jerry will never forget his stunning blue eyes and how they shone when he smiled. Jerry was a devoted son who dearly loved his mother and father providing care and assistance to them in any way he could. As loving brother, he was always caring and supportive. A spirited debater he could spend countless hours talking politics with his family and friends. A proud uncle and godfather his love was evident whether teaching the children how to cast a line fishing or advising them of their best move in chess match. Jerry was a thinker, a life long student who loved learning. He was deeply passionate about music, playing several instruments throughout his life but having a special place in his heart for classical guitar which he studied at Julliard. An accomplished classical guitarist, Gerard played with the NYC Guitar Orchestra. Jerry found great peace by the sea either sailing on it in his beloved catamaran or being on the beach watching the waves or casting a rod in the surf. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at St. Joseph’s Home, Little Sisters’ of the Poor, 140 Shepherd Lane, Totowa, N.J. A funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday at 11:00 am Chapel of St. Jeanne Jugan, St. Joseph’s Home, Little Sisters’ of the Poor. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Joseph’s Home, Little Sisters of the Poor.
