Obituary of Susan Broadbent

Susan Jane Broadbent (McDonough), 75, of Columbus, OH, formerly of Palm Harbor, Florida and East Paterson, passed away on August 30, 2015. Susan was born in Cornwall, NY on April 10, 1940 to the late John & Marion McDonough and grew up in East Paterson, NJ. She attended elementary school at Gantner Elementary School, graduated from East Rutherford High School and attended William Paterson College. She was actively involved in local politics and at one point she served as County Committee Woman in Passaic County, New Jersey. While she worked for a number of employers, prior to retirement, she worked at JP Morgan Chase in Tampa Florida as VP Executive Assistant in the Mortgage Banking Group for 17 years. She and her husband raised their family in Ringwood and Succasunna, NJ. They moved to Florida in 1983 and recently moved to Columbus, OH to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law. Susan was the beloved wife of Thomas A. Broadbent, Sr. for 52 years. She was the cherished mother of Thomas A. Broadbent, Jr. and his wife Dawn, Sean M. Broadbent, Shannon L. Saksaka (nee Broadbent) her husband Abdelhadi and the late Richard E. Broadbent. She was the treasured grandmother of Amelia, Danuska, and Aliya. She is the dear sister of Joanne Hughes and was proceeded in death by brother Richard McDonough, brothers and sister in-law and very special nieces and nephews. She is survived by loving sisters-in-law as well as many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday at 10:00am at St. Leo's Church, Market St., Elmwood Park. Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 8th at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
