Rest in peace, Mr. Keegan, and may God keep you safe.
Dear Gerry and Colleen,
Mr. and Mrs. Keegan are together, their souls content once again. The loss is with us, the living; I have been and will be thinking of you and wishing you peace during a most difficult year.
I've been thinking a great deal about your family since I learned of your father's passing. I remember Mr. Keegan as the kind and even-tempered policeman and father, serving proudly with my father on the Paterson police force. He was a quiet man, a good man.
Gerry, it's been many decades since I've seen you, but I still remember you! Thank you for sharing these photographs; I appreciated learning of your father's service during WW II. I hadn't known, but am in no way surprised. Seeing the photograph of Mr. and Mrs. Keegan together brought back a flood of memories, and I see Mrs. Keegan's contagious smile reflected in your own, Coleen.
Time and geography separate us, but somehow the bonds of our youth remain a constant tie. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
With Sympathy,
Suzanne

Gerry and Colleen,
I am so sorry to hear of the death of your dad. Some of the old pictures, perhaps especially your dad in his police uniform, brought back good memories of growing up on the hill. I remember both your parents fondly, both good people. Colleen, I understand this year must have been especially tough on you and your family.
I feel those we love live on in our continued love for them. We continue our own lives as the legacies of those who have gone on before us. The lives they lived continue in the good lessons we learned from them and in the life examples they provide.
We have lost another member of "the greatest generation".
I offer my sympathy and prayers.
Peggy

Gerald Keegan was in my life for as far back as I can remember. His friendship and kind demeanor was a staple of his. I remember he and my Dad always enjoying the fruits of their labor. They were HARD workers..It wasn't until I got a bit older did I see the kind of man he was. He mentored me when I was at a cross roads in my life to make a decision what to do. I will always be grateful for his friendship and mentoring. During my younger years Gerry and my Dad where inseparable didn't matter what time of year, or what the weather was. They had each others backs. Perhaps being on the Franklin together had something to do with that. I remember climbing the hill Gerry and Ann lived on in the snow.. I remember the parties my parents had with them. I remember his laugh and smile. Most of All I remember his willing to do anything to help and be a friend to my Dad.. A Friendship that never died.. just like the Franklin they were on..Kudos to you Mr Keegan.. You are one of the good guys...You exemplified what a Friend should be.. I am proud to have had you in my life.. Sincerely, Ken Van Valkenburg My condolences to the family... :(

Dear Keegan Family:
Please accept my deepest sympathy on your loss. I served with Captain Keegan with the Paterson Police Department and say without reservation that he was certainly one of the finest officers I served with. He was always steady, always calm, cool and collected in dealing with various issues, both Departmental issues as well as issues concerning policing and the public.
Captain Keegan never boasted about his wartime experiences but more so boasted about his children, who I know made him very proud. May he rest in peace.
Sincerely,
James Buckley
