Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Pegel

Elizabeth Ann Pegel left this world peacefully, surrounded by love, on July 11, 2017. Born in Council Bluffs Iowa, she moved to N.J. at age 3 and loved growing up in West Paterson and living the last 23 years in Pines Lake, Wayne. 

A graduate of Montclair State University where she received a B.A. and M.A. in Spanish and Education and an M.A. in Counseling, Elizabeth taught Spanish at Pompton Lakes High School before becoming a School Counselor. She retired from Westwood Regional School System in 2010. 

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Mariel, son-in-law Tim Kruse and their children Callia and Desmond Kruse. She also leaves behind siblings Mary Chokran (Gregory), Anne Pegel, Robert Pegel (Zulma) and Thomas Pegel (Andrena); nieces Allie Pegel and Gemma Chokran; nephews Taylor and Cole Chokran, Tommy and Gregory Pegel and Johnny and David Cumaoglu; and numerous friends. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Marlene Pegel, her brothers John and David Pegel and nephews Jack and Calvin Pegel. 

She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, zest for life, love of travel, culture and nature, and radiant smile. She will be loved and missed forever.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 15th, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 17 Pompton Ave in Pompton Lakes.
