Obituary of Maria T. DeStefano
Maria T. DeStefano (nee Mastrangelo), 77, of Woodland Park, passed away on November 23, 2018. Maria was born in Brooklyn on June 24, 1941 to the late Guido and Theodora (Pantages) Mastrangelo. Maria was a beautiful soprano opera singer. She attended Manhattan School of Music and the Juliard School and was the winner of the first Metropolitan Opera Scholarship as well as a Fulbright Scholarship to the Rome Opera House. She was also a soloist and choir member of NJCS.
Maria was the beloved wife of Ronald DeStefano for 52 years, she was the adored mother of Adriana Totaro and her husband Christopher and cherished grandmother of Julia Totaro. Maria was predeceased by her three brothers and is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3-7pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral service will be offered on Monday at 10:30am at Santangelo Funeral Home. Guests may arrive at 9:30am. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.
