Corinne Barrett

Obituary of Corinne Barrett

Corinne Barrett (nee Fronzuto), 91, of Woodland Park, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 31, 2020. Corinne was born at home in West Paterson on April 6, 1928 to the late Ernest and Elizabeth Fronzuto.

Corinne remained a lifelong resident of the town with her husband Joseph, who preceded her in death in 2003. After they married in July 1949, they raised five children; Corinne, Susan, Nancy, Arlene and Ernie whom she lovingly referred to as her “Sonny Boy”. Corinne adored animals, especially shih-tzus, and passed her time knitting and crocheting blankets for friends and family. Most of all, she loved people and making people happy.

Corinne welcomed everyone into her home as though they were family. Sunday dinners were big in her house. She always asked if you were hungry and she always had an extra seat at the table. There wasn’t a Sunday that went by that she hadn’t prepared amazing food with a pot of gravy on the stove ready to feed the plenty of family, friends and the occasional neighbor just paying a visit. Every holiday was full of amazing memories of her cooking and baking. Whether it was gathering to bake Christmas cookies, pizza gain for Easter or her signature baccala for Christmas Eve.

Corinne also enjoyed traveling, whether it was touring Europe with her girlfriends, taking all her children and grandchildren on a Caribbean cruise or simply organizing the occasional bus ride to AC or the city to see the Rockettes.

In addition to being a mom and housewife she also worked as a telephone operator at the Passaic County Welfare Office in Paterson. She was a longtime member of Deborah and devoted parishioner of our Lady of Holy Angels Church in Little Falls.

Corinne will be adored and remembered by her children Corinne Spencer and partner Willie Card, Susan Buscema and her husband Robert, Nancy Domalewski and her husband Joe, Arlene Gentile and her husband Salvatore and Ernest Barrett and his wife Mary. She was the cherished grandmother of Janine Rubino, Melissa Gatti, Cheryl Phillips, Arlene Fannell, Jimmy and Steven Domalewski, Deandra and Alexa Gentile, Elizabeth, Becky and Madison Barrett and Briana Mezzina and great grandmother of Abigail and Gianna Gatti, Alessandra and Giancarlo Rubino and Olivia Phillips. Corinne was preceded by her dear brother, Ernest Fronzuto last year and is also survived by many nieces nephews and cousins.

Corinne certainly spent her life making people happy and we’ve all been blessed and eternally grateful to have her be a part of ours.
