Obituary of Alfred J Caldo

Alfred J. Caldo, Sr. "Al", 79, of Totowa, passed away on February 10, 2014. Alfred was born on August 21, 1934 in Paterson, NJ to the late Anthony and Laura (Schill) Caldo. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army from 1956-1958. Al was a driver for his entire life, retiring from Empire Transport Service in Norwood, NJ. Al was an avid sports fan and Brooklyn Dodgers and NY Mets fan. In his spare time, Al enjoyed annual trips to Las Vegas and Maine with his wife and especially enjoyed spending time with his growing family. Al was the beloved husband of the late Winifred "Winnie" (Meyer) for 52 years. He was the loving father of Alfred J. Caldo, Jr. and his wife Julie, Laura Mele and her husband Anthony, James Caldo, and Gina Buccino and her husband William. He was the adored grandfather of Kelly Fischer and her husband Raymond, Meghan and Anthony Mele, and Joseph, Anthony and Nicole Buccino. He was predeceased by his sisters Blanche Carrano, Gladys Bobinksi, and Viola Naples and his late brothers Anthony and Robert Caldo. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 14, from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park. A funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 9:30am at St. James of the Marches Church, 410 Totowa Rd., Totowa. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.
