Obituary of Salvatore Minardi

Salvatore Minardi, of Franklin Lakes,NJ, formerly of Paterson, NJ, left this life on December 13, 2012 at the age of 84. Devoted husband of the late Connie Barrera Minardi for 50 years. Beloved father of John Minardi and wife Lucia and Regina Salemme and her husband John. Adored grandfather of Christopher Minardi and wife Mariaelena, Jonathan and Amanda Minardi, and Michael, Stephanie, and Steven Salemme. Cherished brother of Rose Mastroianni and husband Carmen, the late Grace and Albert Lembo, Thomas Minardi and wife Betty, and Joseph Minardi and wife Rita and brother-in -law of the late Nunzio Barrera and the late Terry and the late Donald Morris. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Salvatore was born to Italian immigrant parents, the late Giovanni (John) Minardi and the late Nunziata Alessandrello Minardi. They established The Minardi Baking Company in Paterson, NJ in 1927. Salvatore learned the strong work ethic that he carried with him from his hardworking parents. He was a graduate of Central High School in Paterson, NJ and attended Newark College of Engineering. Later, Salvatore and his brothers, Thomas and Joseph, became the owners of The Minardi Baking Company, which became a Paterson landmark for 84 years. The Company was known for distributing Italian bread products around North Jersey as well as its Italian pastries and especially St. Joseph's bread for St. Joseph's Day. Salvatore always found time for her and his late wife Connie to enjoy many family vacations. He deeply mourned Connie since her death in 2004. He was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Pompeii Church and also a member of The Fidelians of America, North Haledon, NJ chapter. Salvatore had a great sense of humor and although the years continued to pass by, he was always "young at heart." Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday at 9:30am at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 70 Murray Ave., Paterson, NJ. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
