Obituary of Rev. John T. Piccione, O.F.M.

Reverend John T. Piccione, O.F.M., age 44, entered into eternal rest Sunday, February 22, 2009. He was born September 25, 1964 in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Siena College, NY with a degree in social work then studied philosophy at the University of Connecticut, St. Joseph College, and University of South Florida. He later earned his Master of Divinity from The Washington Theological Union. His greatest work was as parochial vicar at St. Bonaventure Church, Paterson from 1995-1999. He was then the pastor of St. Bonaventure Church from 1999-2005. Since 2005 he has been the Director of the Office of Development of Holy Name Province, Director of St. Anthony's Guild and Guardian of Sacred Heart Friary, East Rutherford. He was the proud and devoted Chaplain for the West Paterson Fire Department, Paterson Fire Department, NJFMBA, Honor Legion Police Departments of New Jersey, and the Passaic County Prosecutors Office. Treasured son of Stephanie (nee Piazza) and the late Salvatore Piccione. Beloved brother of Antonia Capofarri and her husband Robert. Cherished uncle Chloe, Nina, Robert, Antonetta, and Samantha Capofarri. He is also survived by his Franciscan confreres. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 6-9pm and Friday from 2-5pm and 7-9pm at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey Street, Paterson, NJ . The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 10:00am at St. Bonaventure Church. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
