Dear Hussey Family, We were deeply saddened to hear of Deacon Bill's passing. We'll always think of him as Deacon Bill, but wow, he accomplished so much in his life - despite all the losses he (and all of you) endured through the years. Quite an amazing man he was, you must be very proud of him and your lineage. And he did it all with a smile. Looking at all of the photos you put out Friday during the viewing - he was smiling in all of the them. He had such a warm, genuine smile that exuded kindness and gentleness and God's love - just one one of the things we will miss him for. What a lovely idea it was to put some of his writings out for people to keep as remembrances. My Mom and I chose the Christmas stories because they have a photo of him on the back. We knew Bill from St. George's of course, but we were also neighbors when you and he lived on Knickerbocker Ave. You probably would have remembered my husband Larry better, but he couldn't get off work to go. Bill was both a gentleman and a gentle man, a rare treasure who will be dearly missed. That velvet voice of his was loved and will be remembered by many. My grandmother loved to listen to him, as did I. (If you know of any recordings of him speaking please let me know, I would gladly purchase some just to hear his voice again.) When my grandmother passed away her permanent place in the mausoleum was not ready so she had to be moved when it finally was. She loved hearing him speak so much we contacted him and asked him to speak, say a prayer when she was moved to her permanent place and he was happy to. He came and spoke eloquently as always, we know she was looking down and very pleased. If only I'd thought to record it, but at times like that we never do. I hope that knowing so many people loved and respected him and shares your grief gives you all some measure of comfort. With our deepest sympathy, Linda and Larry Bellome Deacon Bill always concluded his homily's with the word 'SHALOM' - which means peace - so to you Dear Bill we say SHALOM, go in peace to God and your Heavenly home.
