MY MOTHER DIED......BUT SHE STILL LIVES
My mother died......but she still lives
In radiant warmth each Summer gives;
In Winter snowflakes falling to the ground;
In all simple joys, wherever they're found.
My mother passed......but she remains
In Autumn leaves; in Springtime rains;
In peaceful expressions of any season;
In every smile, whatever good reason.
My mother perished......but she survives
In joyful, triumphant, team high-fives;
In every bird's song; at schoolyard games;
When waves splash beaches; near fireplace flames.
My mother departed......but she returns
When a child laughs; when a student learns;
When kittens purr; when dogs wag tails;
When love is needed if all else fails.
My mother went away......but she still lingers
In gentle touches of tender fingers
Caressing roses or as butterfly perches;
In choir voices soaring in churches.
My mother is absent......but she is present
In all things beautiful, in nothing unpleasant;
In friendships, hugs, and all good deeds;
In every prayer; in rosary beads.
My mother is missing......but she can be seen
In happy moments, in Nature's green;
In children and grandchildren successes;
In anything and everything that God blesses.
My mother is lost......but I can find her
In those who seek to live life kinder
And make it their purpose to eliminate
Disharmony and human hate.
My mother is deceased......but she is reborn
When each new Dawn presents each morn;
And if I look with my Mind's eye,
I see her twinkle in the Night sky.
My mother is gone......but she's still here;
And if I listen with a careful ear,
I hear the familiar voice I seek;
It's Mom, not the wind, kissing my cheek.
My mother isn't home......but she's at my side,
Walking with me with every stride,
And speaking the words she would often say:
"Has anyone told you you're special today?"
My mother left......but she also stayed;
Her amazing legacy will never fade,
Nor will the memories of her life
As teacher, mother, grandmother, wife.
My mother isn't dead; she gloriously sings
With Almighty God, with Angel wings,
In a musical concert with fireworks spirit,
An awesome show and the heavens cheer it.
My mother is alive and she's here in my heart,
And now that I'm sure, we'll never be apart;
I'll love her forever with perpetual pride;
My mother still lives even though she died.

The last time I saw Bette was over 20 years ago and although we saw each other at family gatherings, she made an impact in my life. The most I remember is her firecracker personality. Since hearing of her passing, my life has been altered to thoughts of past times. May you bring a new spark in heaven Bette.

You were an incredible, beautiful, strong woman, Bette. An inspiration to us all. Every time I saw you, you would recite a beautiful poem that made me smile, and sometimes bring tears to my eyes. This one is for you ; Roses are red, Violets are blue, I've met many special people in my life, but none as special as you. Love you, and miss you <3

Many knew Bette because she was a dynamo. She had so much energy always directed to the best causes. But for those of us who were neighbors, who had closer glimpses of the person she was day-to-day, we can tell you what a wonderful and unique person she was. Whatever her personal battles, Bette never faltered in her exuberance for life. And love. Bette never met a person she couldn’t love in some way. She was an inspiration, a true representative of her faith. She has been and will be greatly missed by her neighbors.

Grandma,
A couple hours ago, some of us were in your room cleaning up some stuff, and we found all our old letters and poems to you that you kept for all these years. We also found your journals, so we sat and read some things. If only the world could read what you wrote, they would know what a truly caring and unselfish person you were. "I wish I won the lottery. Not for me, but so I can help all the people who needed it more." We will always remember you this way. You raised a great family, and things just won't be the same without you around. I miss you already and I love you. Michael Brandon.
P.S. Has anyone told you today how special you are?

My beautiful mom,
It has been an honor to have had you as my mother and to have experienced your endless love and devotion to your family. We were all so blessed. It was my pleasure to have been able to care for you (along with my siblings)in your final months when things became so difficult for you. After taking care of others for so long you deserved every bit of tender, loving care that you received. Not once during your suffering did I hear you ask "why me?" And I will never forget you saying "God is good" right up until the final hours before you passed when you were no longer able to speak. You will never be forgotten and will live in our hearts forever. I will love you always.
