Obituary of Mary Elizabeth LaConte

Mary Elizabeth "Bette" LaConte, (nee Valois), age 81, of Totowa, a resident of West Paterson for almost 40 years, passed away on July 4, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Yonkers, NY to the late Vincent and Alberta Valois. Her life roles included being a teacher for 39 years, retiring from St. John's Cathedral School in Paterson, a poet, a story teller at the West Paterson Library, a clerk at St. Anthony's Guild, and a parishioner and CCD Hall Monitor at St. Bonaventure Church. Bette was the beloved wife of Raymond LaConte for over 59 years, the adored mother of Raymond Vincent LaConte and his wife Myriam, Robert John LaConte, Virginia Lee Caroselli and her husband Joseph Anthony, Jr., Darlene Forte and her husband Eugene, and Cheryl Lynn Spadafora and her husband Thomas, and the treasured grandmother to Thomas Ryan Spadafora, Michael Brandon Spadafora, Gina Noelle Caroselli, Christy Michelle Caroselli, Tiffany Brielle Caroselli, and Laura Ferchak, her husband Bill and their children Katherine and William. She is the dear sister of Virginia Valois and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bette will always be remembered for her amazing spirit and endless devotion to family, friends, and students. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Little Sisters of the Poor, 140 Shepherds Lane, Totowa, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered Friday at 10:15am at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey Street, Paterson, NJ. Guests may arrive at Little Sisters of the Poor at 9:15am. Cremation will be private by the request of the family.
