Obituary of James G Osgood

James G. Osgood, 59, passed away on January 20, 2016. He was born Ridgewood, NJ on November 16, 1956 to the late James and Gertrude (DeGroot) Osgood. James was raised and lived in Totowa the majority of his life before recently moving to Clifton and Wood-Ridge. He graduated from Passaic Valley High School in 1974 and received his degree in Sociology from William Paterson. James was a dedicated employee of Passaic County, serving in the county’s Division of Nutrition Services where he was director of the Meals on Wheels Program since January of 1980. He was largely responsible for the growth and success of the program. He took great pride ensuring meals were delivered to the less fortunate elderly residents of Passaic County. James enjoyed officiating basketball and umpiring baseball. He was a member of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (IAABO), Board 33, Bergen County Umpires Association and Northern Suburban Sports Officials. He was also an active member of the United Methodist Church in Totowa where he served as chairman of the church council. An avid sports fan, James cheered for the Los Angeles based teams: Dodgers, Lakers and Rams. James is survived by his adoring fiancée, Sharon Bramley and his cherished stepchildren William E. Berthold and Kathleen Berthold. He joins in the after-life his beloved wife, Barbara (Pavero) Osgood (2003), his loving parents, James (1991) and Gertrude (2003), and his dear brother Dennis Osgood (1959). Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8pm at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave. , Woodland Park , NJ . A funeral service will be offered on Tuesday at 9:30am at the Totowa United Methodist Church , Church St. , Totowa. Guests may arrive at Santangelo Funeral Home at 8:30am. Entombment will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.
